作为成都Gateway的经理,我参与了最近的两次熊猫运送--由成都去苏格兰,和这次的由成都到法国的。要让熊猫稳妥的运到机场,装载上”联邦熊猫快递号”,并准时从成都起飞,我需要做很多准备工作,并要与成都机场以及熊猫基地做协调和沟通。
12月初那一次把熊猫送去苏格兰的运送是我首次参与熊猫运送,也是首次参与这些特殊运送。我负责成都这边的操作。在运送前一周,我与成都机场所有相关的部门一起开会商讨相关运送事宜。同时,我也去了碧峰峡熊猫基地,和相关负责人商讨运送细节。在整个准备过程中,我遇到许多挑战,但所有的问题终于在运送前一天得到解决,去苏格兰的“甜甜”和“阳光”从成都顺利出发
时隔一月后,我再次负责熊猫运送的操作。有了上次的经验,我这次对于整个流程有了很好的掌握,可还是感觉肩负重任! 这次的一对熊猫“圆仔”和“欢欢”来自另外的熊猫基地,而且把熊猫从基地运送到机场又是另外一个团队。虽然有上次的经验,但是我面对一个全新的流程,中间也出现了很多新的情况和问题。同时,我还需要和成都机场的相关部门做协调,这包括海关,地面操作,机位安排,检验检疫 等。在运送的那周,我每天都需要和成都机场以及熊猫基地做沟通以准备相应文件和确认操作细节。在运送当天早上,我凌晨3点多就回到公司开始了准备工作。一对熊猫大约在凌晨5:30分到达机场,然后大约在早上7点 装载上飞机。最终,“联邦熊猫快递号”在预定时间早上8点05分载着“圆仔”和“欢欢”飞上了天空。看着飞机离开的那刻,我才终于送了一口气,很高兴自己再次把一对中国“国宝”安然送上飞机。希望“圆仔”和“欢欢”在新家一起如意!

As the Chengdu gateway manager, I took part in two recent panda deliveries -- one from Chengdu to Scotland, and the other from Chengdu to France. For both shipments a lot of preparation and coordination with the Chengdu airport and the panda preserves were required in order for the pandas to be delivered to the airport, uploaded onto the “FedEx Panda Express,” and depart on time.
The panda delivery to Scotland in early December was my first panda shipment and also my first special delivery. I was in charge of the operations in Chengdu. The week prior to the shipment, I met with all the related departments in Chengdu airport to discuss details. I also went to Bifengxia panda preserve to meet with their project leader. During the whole process, I came across many challenges; however, everything was settled the day before the shipment and “Tian Tian” and “Yang Guang,” the pandas bound for Scotland, had a smooth departure from Chengdu.
One month later, I was in charge of the operations for another panda delivery. Building on the first experience, I had a better understanding of the whole process, but I still felt great pressure. This time, the two pandas, “Yuan Zi” and “Huan Huan,” came from a different panda preserve and we had to work with another team for ground transportation. Despite my previous experience, I faced a whole new process and some new issues and problems arose. At the same time, I needed to coordinate with different departments in Chengdu, including Customs, group handling, airplane parking gate management, and Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine (CIQ). The week of delivery, I had daily communication with Chengdu airport and the Chengdu panda preserve on the documentation and transportation details.
On delivery day, I went to the office at around 3am to get prepared. The pandas arrived at 5:30am and were loaded on the aircraft at around 7:00am, and I am pleased to say that the FedEx Panda Express departed Chengdu on time at 8:05am. Watching the airplane fly up into the sky, I felt relief since I safely sent off one pair of “China’s national treasures” again. I hope Yuan Zi and Huan Huan stay well and happy in their new home.
